 Dear Diary,

Today mother let me go to the marketplace. It took some convincing but she eventually let me go. I finally came across the marketplace, I had walked to the butcher's table. Once I had got there and as he was cutting the meat everyone stopped while the bell rang, the butcher stated that the bell rings for every year the person lived for.... twenty-one.... the bell rang twenty-one times.

After that, the butcher also stated that the person who died could have been a fever victim. After that statement,  I was moving on to the next seller but an apple was taken from my basket, I look over and it was Nathaniel! Nathaniel is a great guy, he likes to tease me but I don't mind (I have taken quite the liking to him).

Mother doesn't like him because she doesn't want us to end up like her and father (father was a carpenter and has been dead for years now). She wanted me to marry one of the Ogilvie but I refused. Afterward, I and Nathaniel had our reunion, I got the rest of the goods I came here for, and went home.
